WHAT I DO
Congratulations for taking that first step by reaching out for help. Considering therapy is courageous!

I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and validating space for couples, individuals, and families to gain clarity about unhelpful patterns, get support as they work through emotions that are tough to feel and even tougher to share, and finally, build a solid emotional intelligence tool kit to respond more intuitively to themselves and more effectively to the people around them.

I believe that in the face of life’s challenges, people are capable of change and of living their best lives. My hope is that you will be empowered to believe that, too.

WHO I HELP
I am passionate about my work with COUPLES and families. My clients tell me they feel individually supported, heard, and tuned into as we explore together what is best and healthiest for the couple as a unit. Most couples have great ideas and solutions for many of the problems that life throws at them. They just need a calm space and unconditional support in learning how to communicate what’s in their heads and hearts more effectively, to speak to each other, to be heard, and to listen with a goal of understanding.

For partners considering divorce, I have experience with discernment counseling where you spend no more than five sessions discerning how to move forward with your relationship. If you decide that going in different directions is your best option, I will help you with an intentional divorce or separation. Even though it may seem challenging at times, with intentionality, you can leave your relationship with the integrity and respect that you both deserve.

With the WOMEN I have the pleasure of working with, facing life transitions is a theme that comes up quite a bit. Transitions like divorce, infidelity, empty nest, career obstacles, relational challenges with parents, siblings, or kids. I know from my own experience that it is invaluable to have impartial, professional support during transitions. Transitions often bring big highs and lows, excitement, as well as enormous fears and discomfort. The list of stressors is never ending. Emotional labor, mental load, work/life balance, and the impact of political stress. Whatever your stress, I can be an impartial and warm presence for you. Together we can sort and sift through your emotions, your unhelpful thoughts, as well as your intuition and potentially an untapped deep knowing.

Working with MEN has been so inspiring! Men can often grapple with connection in relationships, as well as with feeling down, irritation, and a ton of stress. Many men haven’t gotten the opportunity to talk about their struggles in a safe place, where they can receive understanding and get the skills that help make relationships and life more harmonious and fulfilling. We all have a right to fulfilling lives and successful relationships that bring us a sense of connection and happiness. And that includes men.

In our work together you will develop compassion and understanding for where you are now, as well as for where you’ve been. You will see more clearly where you want to go, how you want to show up in the world and in your relationships. You will learn a new approach to dealing with what is difficult for you and in your relationships, whether that relationship is with your partner or spouse, your kids, aging parents, adult siblings, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or boss.

ABOUT ME
I am warm, honest, and non-judgmental in my approach. I have stick-to-it-ness, I am resilient, and I don’t give up easily. I’m up for a challenge while still maintaining healthy boundaries, which is very helpful as a therapist! I have over 15 years of experience and I value connection, authenticity, acceptance, humor, and humility.

This is the third chapter of my adult life. I worked in corporate, healthcare, and non-profit environments as a career counselor, stayed at home to support my own family, and I’m now working as a mental health practitioner. As a friend said, I have plenty of  “life seasoning” 🙂

Three things Kristi absolutely and wholeheartedly lives by: CONNECTION, COURAGE, and GROWTH.

I live in South Minneapolis, have three kids as well as a super naughty, super stubborn and endlessly loving Golden Retriever named Bear. I enjoy biking the Minneapolis trails, hiking at Theo Wirth, walking the lakes with friends, and watching my kids participate in activities they enjoy. I loved Ted Lasso, and currently am watching Breaking Bad again, but with my son this time. This has been leading to interesting conversations.
